Long before the actual moment arrived Rain knew how the evening was going to end. To put it mildly she was looking forward to ending her date in a certain manner. Had she been able to have her own way she would have taken her relation with Ray a step forward a week ago. When they had last met.

After all she was a woman who always knew what she wanted and went after it. But then she had not been able to spend sometime alone and been totally unable to convey her intentions to him. But she knew no such obstacles stood on the way this evening.

And she did not have an ounce of doubt as to her acts being disliked. For she Knew Ray to be of similar character. That was one of the things about him that attracted her. Rain had known Ray for a long time now. They had been introduced by common friend’s years ago. With the passage of time they had become closer. Their friendship purely platonic. Somehow with time their feelings for each other had changed. If asked both would fail to point out the time when their friendship had ripened to a deeper shade of courtship.

Hence as a result here was Rain now, dressing and presenting herself in anticipation for the big occasion. Spending hours in front of the mirror to get that perfect look she liked whenever she was with him. Anyone who happened to pip into her room would know that the closest had been emptied and its content had filled in the floor. As certainly did her mother, who on seeing the sate of the room muttered,’ emptied your closet for everyone to see, have you darling.’ ‘Mom at least you ought to be proud of your daughter,’ replied Rain in an inaudible voice ‘She isn’t bearing her heart out in her sleeve for everyone to see.’
