Street Band (Atul Karki) "MSN" - Zekid

MSN album was released in 2005 and marketed and distributed by Saraswati music (P) Ltd. As to the name of their band the members say, 'Any path starts from the street and so to represent the beginning of our musical journey we named ourselves as street band.'
The band members are- Atul Karki & Dipesh Gyawali; Atul is currently studying in Singapore. Their first album MSN was produced by Kapil Thapa.
The album comprises of 7 heart touching melodious pop songs, which, are beautifully scribbled by Atul Karki, Sharad Mainali and Pradeep Manandhar. Likewise first four of the songs music is composed by Atul while three other songs are composed by Dibesh Mulmi(Cobweb), Pradeep/Jogan and Sharad. Music arrangement is jointly done by Sunil Bardewa and Dibesh Mulmi. As for the vocals, Atul Karki does all of it.
The album kicks off with ear pleasing mellow "Hidethe maanko bato". This song is all about a boy trying to prove his love to his beloved, is beautifully sung. This song rocked well in all the FM stations.
Second song of the album, "Chodera Gaye," is a soft number, which is melodious and perfectly arranged. This song definitely is the heart touches of the album. Interestingly a music video of this song has been made which was shot in Singapore.
The other song is "Jati Tadha". A rock number, which reminds of Cobweb band as the music composition is done by Dibesh(Cobweb) and the song makes the listeners want to groove and go wild. Through this song, Atul, has proved his capability and versatility as a singer.
"Yeuta sapana", fourth song in the album is perfectly arranged by Sunil Bardewa. The song is about frustration after being betrayed in love. This song has been highly praised by melodious songs listeners and has been able to win the hearts of tragic lovers.
"Mero swopan" is a slow rock, is a high pitched song with the description of the dream of a youth, his depressions and his fate.
Sixth song "Silky Kapal" is funky song, which describes of the modern girl's perspective of current young generations. The tune is catchy and smooth. Guitar works also matches the swift song.
"Audio Slave" inspires "Mero Maanko" final song and the song is all in all with smashing guitar works and nice lyrics.
In all the band has tried to give variety to its listeners and as for the first timers they deserve encouragement. Currently singer Atul is working on his solo album for which he has been devoting days and nights to cater something delicious to Nepali music lovers.

Nabin still rocks - Zekid

He entered into the musical field after his I.Sc., formed a band named Steel Wheels with his friends. This album which most people haven’t heard of but for me it still is one of the best album I have ever heard. Time and again he has re-recorded and released most of the songs from that first album in his further albums.
G-Major the first cord of his first hit number "Aankhama Timi lai", Album named after this cord.
G-Major comprises of 9 songs and is released under The Rebel creations banner after he had some problem to cope with Music dots com from where his previous album was released.
Out of 9 songs 6 are written by Rajan Raj Shiwakoti (one of which, English rap verse is written by Sandhya Banskota), 2 by Bijay Shivakotee and one by Bibek Pokhrel.
The lyrics writers have done a great job with nice words. On this department Navin has always been lucky and picky. Before he was supported by Nepal’s best Pop lyricians Manoj Acharya (Journalist – Kantipur currently in USA) and Naresh Dev Pant but now Rajan Raj Shiwakoti is behind him. However most of the lyrics are short, it might give a newcomer the impression that Nepali dictionary is short of words or should I say shortage of perfect words to meet the harmony of orchestra. Personally I got the feeling that some songs would have been better with one more verse.

Music composition:
Nabin himself composes six of the songs, while two are by Rajan Raj Siwakoti & one by Lochan Rijal. Overall Music is well arranged, recorded and mixed. For this they deserve a pat on the back.
As usual he has given second name (sub title based on the main theme of the song) to all his song titles which he never misses in any of his albums.

1. Aai Yai Yai Ya (Aakanksha)
2. Chahana Hoina (Badhyata)
3. Yaad Le Timro (Jhajhalko)
4. Ma Ta Jiudai Chhu (Awastha)
5. Sabhya Chhau Timi (Garwa)
6. Bhetna Maan Lagyo (Trishna)
7. Kasto Rahechha Bato ( Astitwa)
8. Dherai Dherai Maya (Jigyasha)
9. Ali Alikati (G Major)

Aai Yai Yai Ya (Aakanksha), The perfect harmony and a superb number to start an album. The melody is smooth and easy. The song is about wishes and dreams and request to one's beloved. The song is so beautiful but the ending? I simply can't get why Nabin is in hurry to stop such a beautiful song. After listening to this song the listener does not want the song to end and yet the song is short they should have added a few lines more.
The second song Chahana Hoina (Badhyata) is one of my favorites from this album. This song is also current chart hits. Nabin has tried to please RNB lovers by including Rap inserts.
The third song Yaad Le Timro (Jhajhalko) has the most Soft beautiful melodious and is a heart touching number. Likewise, the fourth number is an ear mellows one with the fusion of rock and music. After listening to the song one can understand the command Navion has over vocals.
The other number Kasto Rahechha Bato ( Astitwa) is another experimental music composition form our experiment lover singer/composer Lochan Rijal. As you are aware of Lochan’s compositions and depth in the composition and difficulty to singing. Navin’s vocals did perfect singing to meet the ups and downs in noted and to diversify the vocals.
Ali Alikati (G Major) is of course the heart throb number. The guitar work is superb, G-major's notes are well played around. Music is well arranged, sweet melody, beautiful lyrics. This is my personal favorite number from this album.
Looks like they were trying to do something unique with their cover design but I am sorry to say its a waste of time and disgrace to creativity as instead of being an eye catcher it turned out to be an eye shore.
In the entire, album is superb as these days we rarely get an album with more then half of the songs with excellent rating. Well done Nabin K Bhattarai and G Major Team. Who says Nabin don’t rock? Nabin is still the Pop king of Nepali pop music.

The First president of the United States, George Washington - Bibek Karki

In the selection “George Washington,” Thomas Jefferson seems to be saying about the characteristic of George Washington, the first president of the United States. In the first part of the selection, Jefferson writes about the leadership and wise man ship of the George Washington and his ability to deal every circumstance such as leading the country in times of war. Then, the writer mentions about the treaty made with the British and his dissatisfaction with him on this issue but then his sincerity, leadership skills, and, honesty led him to believe, Washington consideration to the newly made constitution with the practicable approach. He also seeks commitments from everyone and to abide by it. Next, the writer mentions about Washington’s revolution ideas to improve the country and writers working experience with the president in the legislature from 1769 until the revolutionary war as a secretary of the states and short time while working in congress.. Finally, the point Jefferson seems to be making is his dissatisfaction with Washington in some action taken by him, like French revolutionary principles and the British treaty. This point is best summed up when the writer tells about him intimacy, honesty of the president and the character that led him to believe that he was on the right path. In other words, the writer seems to have realized the contribution of the president after the death and expresses sorrow and bitterness. However, the major section of the passage is concerned about the President’s effort to build a strong nation and commitment from all for this noble cause. The point seems to be directed towards the responsible bodies of states, both republicans and democrats.
This point seems to apply most in a country that respects freedom, human values, and justice it applies when the people of the nation are responsible towards the civil society and respect the integrity of every citizen. I think George Washington was the person with a great vision. He was the man with strong determination and led by example character he is a great observer as he observes the atmosphere around him such as British and French and capable of making wise decisions.
