Lok Dohari Through Rap - Luckysurya |
|
"Lok Dohari", one of Nepali music
varieties, is popular through out the
country". "Nepali Pop" is limited to
youngsters and various cities of Nepal
it has yet to reach villages and ears of
all aged Nepalese, especially older
peoples. The market of "Lok Dohari"
extends from "Mechi to Mahakali".
Considering all this "Prakash Poudel"
has made up his mind to reach "Lok
Dohari" providing raps in "Lok Flavors".
By doing so he is confident that
"Hip-Hop Lovers" will catch "Lok Dohari"
without difficulty. Mr. Poudel, famous
as experimental singer has experimented
various songs. His hit experiments
includes Crying song "Nai Malai Tehi
Keti Chahincha…", "Dr. Saab Vitamin
Lekhidinu…", Whispering song "Yo Kura
Kasai Lai Na Bhannu Hai….", etc.
His latest experiment "PSYCHO" is in the
market, which will recognize "Prakash
Poudel" as "Psycho Singer". A comedy
music video "Malai Yek Puppy Deu…" from
the same album is on aired through
different medias and is getting popular
day by day, though it's a copy song.
Another awaited song from the album
"Psycho" is the Lok Dohari containing
Rap. This is a duet song with Lok
talented "Bima Kumari Dura" and rapist "Prakash
Poudel" himself.
Negative as well as positive comments
may perhaps come up. Negative in the
sense that the singer has tried to
scratch pure "Lok Dohari Melody" and
Positive aspect is that modern,
fashionable and rap-loving audience will
grab the pace of "Lok Dohari" rhythm.
How his latest experiment will be
analyzed…. will be flashed very soon….
However, its for sure that this "Crazy
singer" will keep on with his "Crazy
Experiments……….."

Not another break up - Zekid |
|
Looza stands for first ray of the sun in
Newari. Mysterious name, magic in the
performance, no less than wonders, Robin
N'
Looza no more exists. Robin N' Looza
reached eminence with their first album
"Nepal" itself. There were those days
when
concerts without them used to be totally
silent. They had as many critics too.
Hence they didn't have an easy start.
Many
argued their music was unbecoming for a
Nepali band, mainly because of the wacky
lyrics and incorrect pronunciations.
Admittedly, the band defied norms and
structure of traditional Nepali music
with weird, funny lyrics and erroneous
pronunciations but it must also be
remembered that they play a different
genre of music… And that games have
different rules!
They muzzled their critics with their
ever-increasing following. People went
to their concerts safe in the knowledge
of
having a good time, in return Robin and
Looza used every trick in the book to
entertain their fans. Robin 'n Looza
ruled the
roost in Nepali rock music for more than
seven years. And like all good things,
it came to an end. It was a bitter
surprise
for fans.
After modest set of three albums- Nepal,
Aadhunik Aaganma and Bhulma Bhulyo they
finally disbanded. After the breakup,
Robin
formed his new band Robin and The New
Revolution whereas Looza faded in
history. Robin and The New Revolution
haven't been
able to keep the standard as when they
were Robin N' Looza. If you ask me,
Robin's back up The New Revolution (TNR)
is not
even upto 50% of Looza. What's missing
is Looza thrill and power we were
accustomed to listening along with
Robin. TNR had
me wishing the duo to unite back for the
sake of good music. After two years
Looza is back With a new front-man and
back-to-basics rock attitude. Robin
wanted to do his own stuff, so did Looza.
After the break-up Sunit was still
playing with Eternity while Riju was
with Rusty Nails. But finally they have
come front
with a new front man; none other then
Lochan Rizal, who is a musical genius,
currently studying Masters in
Ethnomusicology at
Kathmandu University and learning
eastern classical vocals and
instruments. Yes Lochan Rizal who bagged
four Awards at 9th
Hits Fm Music Awards 2062. Finally both
sides found the kind of band they wanted
to work with and the name simply Looza.
Neo-Looza has been jamming together and
experimenting their sound. Soon we can
watch them in concerts. Soon we can have
the
missed thrill live performance by Looza.
Hope they will soon be on the top of
Nepali Rock Music once again as this
time they
got one of the greatest vocalist in
Nepali music Industry and of course one
of the best band. But hope this time
they don't'
break-up...

....Bhujhina maile timro maya..
jaba
timi ma sanga thiyou...
jaba mahasus gare maile tara..
timi tadha
vai sakyou...
yaad aaucha timile bhaneka kuraharu......
aaja ma eklo chu..
Paschatap ma jali
rehechu......
These beautiful lines have hit the Nepali
music industry by storm. The singer is
non other then Dibya Subba, son of a
veteran
musician late Kewal Subba who had served
at Radio Nepal. Having been brought up
in a musical environment it is no wonder
Dibya has entered the music industry.
Moreover his success too is not a matter
of surprise as he was taught music from
non
other than Kuwal Subba. He was raised up
in a musical environment and it was none
other than his father himself who taught
him music. Apart from that he learned
classical music from Do Re Me School
under the guidance of Gurudev Kamat for
three
years. Dibya had even participated in
'Nepal Star'-a talent hunt program
organized by Nepal 1 and he stood
himself to the
last 15.
His debut album 'Pratha' is doing
reasonably well in the market, the album
has enabled him to establish some sort
of
recognization in the music industry. One
of his number "Paschatap" is even
striking the musical chart. In praise of
his vocal
talent one of the magazines wrote "Dibya's
vocals stand out in the beautifully
composed Paschatap."
He sold his motor bike and guitar to pay
for the song recordings of his debut
album, "Pashchatap" and according to
him, this
experience has taught him a lot in life.
But, now his hard work and utmost
determination has paid off and he is the
present
shining star of our music industry after
winning the Image Awards as the debut
singer of the year.
Yes, recently he was honored with the
title of 'Best New Artist of the Year at
8th Annual Image Awards'. I too was
happy for
him, thinking that his hard work and
sacrifice had been rewarded. As I have
seen many talented artists struggling.
Recently
all my good feelings for him has changed
as I found out that this beautiful song
of his is nothing but a carbon-copy.
One of my Pilipino classmate was playing
her native songs in the classroom an
suddenly I felt like I had heard that
song. I
was so sure I had heard it before I
asked her to replay that song. Then it
hit me that its same as Dibya Subba's
chart topper
song Paschatap. Throughout the song the
tune is same. The only difference is the
original song is in bit high scale and
Paschatap is in bit low scale as
compared to the original.
The original song is by one of the top
Pilipino singer Aegis and the song's
name is Halik. The music is so similar
that the
only conclusion I could come up with is
that Dibya Subba had copied Aegis's
creation. And as is the case with many
of our
artist I felt that it's Dibya who has
made a mistake. It's not Dibya's fault
alone. Actually it's wrong to accuse him
of
wrong doing when the entire music
industry has been affected by the
copying disease. Even top artists have
not been able to
stay away from it. But my question is
why do they do it. Originality and
creativity separates their work from the
others.
It's for those very things that people
spend their hard earned money and
respect musician, singers, artists. I
don't know
about others but I had not expected this
of Dibya. As I believed he would
understand the it better than most as be
himself
comes from a musical family. Why can't
he follow his fathers trends rather then
copying foreign music ? I even read a
comment
in one of the top magazine stating that
Paschatap is beautifully composed ?? But
who is the original composer of that
tune ?
Nobody cared to find out.
On top of it for the copy song he was
awarded with the most prestigious Nepali
music awards "Image Award" in the
category
Best New Artist of the year. If its the
trend then I suggest all the new comers
to copy one unheard foreign song then
you
will definitely win a title in upcoming
awards. No one will dare to explore
whether its original creation or its a
copy.
Whatever, My suggestion to all singers,
"come up with original creations and
promote pure Nepali Music." As it will
help us
in the long run.
