Duty - the villain’ - Bal Krishna Shah MBBS final year

Valentine Day is a Very wonderful moment to youth, especially students. And this time around the students are indeed delighted that its obstacle free. You know what I mean this year 14th of Feb has fallen on an excellent day what with it missing holiday and bands too. They are delighted on meeting their valentine's without any hassle at their college. But Medical students aren't any exception to rest of the students. But they have their own problems. Despite the greatest desire to meet their valentine, they are not allowed to be absent. Ironically their teachers and doctors also face the same problem. Duty plays villain to their desire of arranging dates with their beloved ones.
Dr. Manoj, how would he like to get rid of that Dr. title for just this day. He is been with the medical department at KMC, had a night shift duty on this auspicious day. Hence having to let go of the opportunity of spending the day and night with his valentine, his newly married wife.
Manoj also doesn't face the problem. There are many doctors who have duty on the same day. One of them is an intern doctor managed to free himself for the day unfortunately his dr. valentine had duty. He expressed that even dr. always serve for people, people never things that dr. is also a man. He also has some desires. Some of the cute nurses express that ‘they’ll celebrate the valentine day by phone’. One nursing staff said that it is very difficult to arrange time especially on the occasions. She suggested that never select a medical person as valentine. One MBBS student of final year said ‘I easily persuaded a beautiful girl to be my valentine, but am not sure about squeezing out time to be with her.' As he still has loads of books to go through and according to him he was better at dealing with his girlfriend’s anger than his teachers scolding. But life of basic students is easy. When I was in basic science, I remember that boys and girls were going for dating and we used to give proxy for them. But now how to save the friends? It is a great problem. This year medical students say finding a valentine is much easier than finding time to spend with them.

Girls Vs. Boys (medical students) !! - Balkrishna Shah

What do you think when a girl is committed to non-med and same with the boy, will that last long. As I did some homework, I found that 99.9% people break up when their partner are non-med and away from them. It is seen that >99.9% girls want their husband to be medical and 35% boys prefer the non-med wife in the future. 76% people changed their partner during the medical education in the
same college, overall break up rate was 90%.
It has been seen that as the time passed by girls tend to be secure and opt for the sr. over their batch mates. The rate of falling in love is 93% in the first month of their medical school and it goes on decreasing by the end of the year. Most of the people need a girl friend or the boy friend. Those are the people who fall in love quickly as soon as they enter medical college and they usually have the multiple partners in the past.
One of the researches done by the psychiatrist has shown that those who fall in love very easily are emotionally weak and can't take good decision in life or usually their decision becomes worst for them. Is there true love which we spell every time? Do you think those who have fallen in love have got the girl or boy of their dream or it’s just an infatuation?
Its has also been seen that by the end of the medical career usually couples face the problem like CASTE, SOCIETY. It is also difficult to go against the family as they have spent a lot of money on them to get their degree and they just can't become selfish at the end.
However, 2-3% of the couples have gone against the family, ~ 10-15% couples succeed in convincing their family regarding caste and society, but >56% were unable to convince their family and either they don’t wish to convince that means they might be fade up with the same partner or are very poor in dealing with the family.
The new emerging causes of break up is the career oriented opportunistic personnel, as most the people opt for the US or developed country it is seen that Girls tend to get US based Green card holder husband. But we still don’t know the end of their option. We still don’t know what the future holds for them.
It is still a great concern as this thing affect the medical student’s study, 10-15% of the medical students have been seen to attempt suicide and the best preferred method seen is diazepam, though some have tried heavy alcohol consumption. <1% has succeeded in their attempts.
At last; if we happen to have a GF or BF, well it does depends on the individual to individual. Those who are true to their heart and courageous to end their love into a knot yes of course, but on one can’t say how people get changed over the time. Those who claimed to end their love into a happy married live have undergone spontaneous abortion too.
To make a GF:
1. Look for her talent than her beauty, as beauty wanes off over the years but not her knowledge, because today’s era based on the talent.
2. Always compare her interaction and handling things in the practical, theory classes with the house hold activity.
3. Do you think she is the one made for you, despite of your infatuation?
4. Always get an idea from her close circle, just try to know what her close friend talks.
5. Try to get an idea on how people think about her in the college even the staff will tell you what kind of girl she is.
6. Always look for her weakness, bad qualities she has more appropriate for you.
7. But don’t delay too much, Girls are like a domain as soon as you want to have it say “sorry this domain is not available, here are the other possibilities…”
To make a BF:
1. Always look for the talent this is the must part in your BF, because we know that after 10 years he will have a pregnant Tommy and bald head for sure.
2. If your would be BF is more social and more famous in friends circle is more appropriate for you.
3. Always look for multitalented personality, because today’s era is for multitalented people.
4. Don’t just tie up with anyone; always think how you would see him after 5-10 years: caring, loving, responsible, and adorable or list you would like to have.
5. Always watch for his activity like how he handles adverse situation in the college like when fighting goes on, when a hot discussion goes on in the class room.
6. Always look for his weakness, bad qualities less he has more appropriate for you.
7. But don’t delay too much, Boys are like a bee if they don’t’ find flower around they just fly away in search of it.

(Some of the data mention in this article is taken from an open discussion done with the medical student form the three different medical colleges based in Ktm.)

Be Nepali, Speak Nepali - Surath Giri "EVENING POLE STAR"

Recently while I was watching a program in a local television channel I heard the presenter asking a question to the guest," Ahile ko generation le hamro culture ra tradition lai birsadai chhan bhaninchha ni. Tapailai kasto lagchha?" What an utter nuisance! You must have noticed where she was making a joke of herself.
Like everything, we have even adulterated our mother tongue. It's a thing to ponder why we hate our identity. Why can't we say sanskriti ra parampara instead of culture and tradition? Words "Mummy" and "Daddy" have replaced the words "Aama" and "Buba". Today, the whole gamut of people are found using the remix language. Be a student of primary standard to post graduate, everyone seems to be fond of mixing foreign words while speaking. Even the presenters of different radio and TV programs are found using remix languages. Nowadays, pure Nepali language seeks solace only in the newspapers, some typical Nepali programs and in some culture conscious people. Today's child learns to
say school but not vidyalaya tiffin but not Khaja, homework but not Grihakarya, thank you but not Dhanyabad.
To many people foreign clothes may be easier to wear, foreign films may have better quality and foreign festivals may look more delightful, as a result they opt for them. But, what about the language? Is their similar rating also among languages? We don't become pakhe speaking proper Nepali and there is nothing to prove by speaking others' languages.
Prosperous countries like Korea, Japan are found emphasizing on the use of their national language. Koreans and Japanese can speak their languages properly and they don't have fondness for foreign languages. At least they don't mess up the languages. Why do we? Why don't we have love for our own language?
We should realize that glory lies in maintaining one's separate identity not in blending on the identity of others. If we have our own words then why should we borrow them form others? And it's necessary to conserve our traditional norms and values. Our rich diversity in culture and tradition should be treasured. Language is the first and the foremost thing of civilization which other languages have; anukaranatmak; like kwappa, thachakka, etc. Why don't we promote the richness of our language instead?
Though I have penned down my feelings here, it doesn't mean that I am able to speak our language complete without mixing it, maybe it's because of the environment. But at least I have realized that I was making a mistake and so am making an effort to speak as far as possible to speak proper Nepali. Do you agree with me?

A Teenager's View on Media - Pravin Khadka

Every morning, I see my father sipping a cup of tea and simultaneously reading daily newspaper very thoroughly. Inspired by him, I try to do the same thing; I get tiresome because all I acquire is the same old stories. Which makes me wonder why he wastes his valuable time and money on such a monotonous thing. I wanted my query to be answered so I asked him about this. In response, he told that money doesn't count, all that counts is the style of presentation i.e. critical analysis of the news by the reporters. But I show my disagreement towards his opinion.
Every time you go through the newspaper available in the market what will you find? From the very first page to the end all we can read is the news about, which political parties organized what program, which political officers attended which inauguration ceremony and so forth. Similarly, the same news can be found in different newspapers with different headlines. Moreover, the same news is broadcasted by different television channels every hour. So, all I want to say is, why the format of presentation is same with every paper? Can't we bring the change of wind in this tradition?
However, most of the newspaper use their front page for the main issue that can sell larger volume in the market. Issues relating to political parties, war against terrorism, attacks and photographs of dead people, destruction of infrastructure and many more are the usual contents of any newspaper. These spicy news either entertain us or depress us. The cover page hardly covers the present scenario of our country but when you try to turn over to the next page all you find is the infinite commercial advertisements. So, even if the total number of a newspaper is 12 you can hardly find 3 pages filled with the genuine news. Yes, I agree that advertisements are essential from the business point of view but have the concerned persons taken a considerable time to think that the consumers get benefit by those advertisements? Why don't they publish classified section instead of publishing a whole lot of advertisements haphazardly?
As we all agree that journalism is a sensitive job to carry on so special care should be taken in this matter since the news printed in the newspaper can affect the mentality of general public. We find the highlighted topic ? WORLD CANCER DAY: SAY NO TO SMOKING? at possible larger font. And later at the next page we can find a whole lot of advertisement s promoting the varieties of cigarettes. Doesn't the media owner need to think about this? In every newspaper we find a section for horoscope but all you can find is different prediction for the same sun sign at different newspaper. Why is it so? It's simple because they are different newspaper. The recent scenario of media world has made us realize that there must be a clear criteria relating to what a journalist ought to do and ought not to do. The articles published must be backed up by adequate evidence to justify it. The issues related to Lord Buddha's birth to Iraq's incident are some examples related to them. If those news were properly conveyed to the mass it would have created a different meaning to the mass. In the same way, they should think about the reaction of the general public before publishing a news, its the social obligation of the media to think about it even if the news is a scoop and will increase their popularity. So the media must take special care since they are responsible for both the positive and negative response from the general people. If they intend, they can raise the nation to the apex of prosperity and advancement as well as can drown the nation to the surface of the sea.
