Nuclear Technology for useful purpose than destructive one - Luckysurya

It is obvious, these days; many people get scared with the term “Nuclear Technology” due to the dangers associated with its use. In my opinion, although it is factual that nuclear weapons pose the greatest threat to human kind, its technology for peaceful purposes also carries some serious risks.
Nuclear energy provides reliable as well as dependable electricity for many industrial countries and some developing countries. In fact it is an economical energy source being efficient and cost-effective because of stable fuel prices and high plant performance. However, dangers of radiation leaking from these plants are common as well. Even though, safety precautions being taken, many numerous disasters as the recent explosion of nuclear plant in Russia can be considered, for instance.
Nuclear Radiation is used to sterilize baby powder, bandages, contact lens solution and including many cosmetics. Furthermore, It is even used for Medical diagnosis and treatment, including X-rays, nuclear medicine and cancer treatment. This is, however, a dangerous procedure and its application is always painful but always successful. Also, such radiations being applied to normal cells definitely destroy it.
Of all energy sources, nuclear energy has perhaps the lowest impact on the environment, including water, land, and air pollutions. Nuclear energy is the most eco-efficient energy sources as it produces the most electricity in relation to its minimal environmental impact. However, psychological threats are always present to all of destructive nature with dramatically increasing criminal activities.
Radioactive materials are essential to biomedical research and pharmaceutical drug testing. Of the 10 Nobel prizes granted in physiology and medicine from 1975 to 1989, 10 were based on research using radioactive materials. Nuclear power testing not only dominates other countries but also spreads various diseases in surrounding environment. The same technology has enabled us to make bombs that can completely destroy the planet. Many developed countries have this technology and much debate about controlling the situation is continuing.
It is noteworthy that, nuclear technology certainly has much positive utility, but is, nonetheless dangerous. However, its use for useful and peaceful purposes should have been encouraged discouraging creation of nuclear weapons. If life on earth is to continue, all nuclear nations should agree to disarm as soon as possible.
