Mohamed Noor, now 38 began his music career playing the percussion at the age of 5, at the Victoria Theatre (Singapore). Since 1976, Mohamed has performed in numerous media programmes. At the age of 9, he performed in a "Concert for the Young" organized by the Ministry of Culture held at the Singapore National Library Lecture Hall on the 3rd of January 1976.
Besides he also enjoys singing which he started at the age of 5 too and has been awarded in several competitions. Mohamed Noor has been actively singing on media programmes and stage shows. He also had an opportunity to sing on two local best-selling Indian albums, titled "Breakthrough" 1992 and "Karuppayee", released in 1994. Though he was solely trained to play Indian percussion, music has somehow inspired him to play a greater variety of percussion instruments.
Today, Mohamed Noor plays more than 25 over percussion instruments from all over the World. This has given Mohamed Noor the extra edge of being known as a versatile percussionist and drummer around Asia. Mohamed has performed in many music festivals including the ASEAN Jazz Festival (Malaysia), Heineken Jazz Festival (Singapore), Big Bang Percussion Festival (London), Singapore Arts Festival, Penang Jazz, Seoul Jazz and many more around the world. Mohamed has work with great international musicians like “the Gypsy Kings. Randy Crawford, Eric Mariental, Kailesh (India), Anne Veerapas, Rani Singam, Shiela Majid, Casey, and many more.
Mohamed has also recorded with many International musicians in their album. Mohamed was a featured percussionist among the World’s top 11 drummers at the Singapore Drum Festival 2007. Mohamed has become a first choice drummer/percussionist for recording sessions and many Asian and International touring artists.
In addition, Mohamed performs at "Oosh" (Bar and Restaurant) four days a week and he also has his own Band “Tribal Tide” which is Singapore’s Premiere World music Band and he is an active founder member of the band. Tribal Tide has performed in various festivals around Asia and has gain great recognition in the Music scene both locally and internationally.
Being bald and Indian, Mohamed Noor stands out among the band members in a Chinese pop concert. And he usually gets an 'exclusive feature' during the concert. He hopes to do a tour with the band next year. He loves performing on stage, but wishes to have his own band.
After 10 years of doing a tour as a percussionist in the Taiwanese Music Industry, Mohamed has decided to take a break from touring and he now is recording his album with his band Tribal Tide and is involved in promoting Drums and Percussion in Singapore and South East Asia.
